Bankia permanently exempts digital customers from fees

Bankia is permanently exempting its digital customers from fees by launching the new “Cuenta On” current account that will never charge fees for maintenance, administration, transfers or paying in cheques. Customers that use this account will also benefit from a free debit card, with no application fees or annual charges.

Bankia today inaugurated Spain’s first fintech incubator and accelerator -Bankia Fintech by Innsomnia- located in Base 2 of the Valencia Marina (the former headquarters of Team Germany), which has 14 participating start-ups from its first round. The bank’s chairman, José Ignacio Goirigolzarri, used the occasion to announce a new round to attract international companies that will take place shortly.

Next Thursday, 3 November, Bankia will open Spain’s first fintech incubator and accelerator. The programme, known as Bankia Fintech by Innsomnia, will incubate and accelerate fifteen startups, following a selection process that involved around 50 companies, which is nearly 40% of the sector in Spain.
