Bankia has adopted the Code of Good Practices established in Royal Decree-Law 6/2012 of 9 March on urgent measures to protect mortgage debtors without resources and the subsequent amendments introduced by Law 1/2013 of 14 May and Royal Decree-Law 1/2015 of 27 February.
This Code of Good Practices establishes a set of actions for restructuring debts backed by mortgages on primary residences, with a view to protecting mortgage debtors. Families that find themselves on the so-called “threshold of exclusion” and are unable to pay their mortgage may apply for protection under the Code, provided they meet the requirements and formally prove their situation.
Bankia has prepared an information document (spanish version) summarising the main points covered by the Code: the requirements to qualify for protection, the documents needed in order to prove that those requirements are met, the conditions regarding the housing, and the procedures and mechanisms for restructuring the debt.
Customers who wish to apply for protection under the abovementioned Code of Good Practices should go to their local Bankia branch for more detailed information about the deadlines, documents to be presented and requirements. The necessary application forms may also be obtained from the branch. For more information or to clarify any doubts, please contact your account manager or local branch on 902 2 4 6 8 10.
