Bankia and the Fundación Caja Segovia allocate 60,000 euros to the social projects of 22 associations in Segovia

  • Goirigolzarri underlined that the selected social entities are "a fundamental example" for Bankia and "involve welfare, employment and rural and local development, which are of vital importance for the entire province of Segovia"
  • Reguera stressed that "the close collaboration between Bankia and the Fundación Caja Segovia has become a happily consolidated reality that allows us to materialise a continuous flow of social projects by the associations of our capital and province"
  • The goal of this call for proposals is to promote local development, support population sectors at risk of social exclusion and improve the quality of life of disabled persons, senior citizens and other vulnerable groups.

The chairman of Bankia, José Ignacio Goirigolzarri; the chairman of the Fundación Caja Segovia, Javier Reguera and the Regional Director of Bankia in Castilla y León, Lola Peñas, presented the aid, worth 60,000 euros, to the representatives of the associations of the 22 projects selected in the joint 'Social Action 2019 '.

At a ceremony held in Torreón de Lozoya, headquarters of the Fundación Caja Segovia, in which the Foundation's director, Rafael Ruiz, met with the representatives of the Segovian associations that received recognition for their work and financial aid to develop their projects. The goal of this call for proposals is to promote local development, support population sectors at risk of social exclusion and improve the quality of life of disabled persons, senior citizens and other socially vulnerable groups.

The chairman of Bankia told the representatives of the selected associations that they are "a fundamental example" for the bank. "We see how you take care of multiple issues, such as care for basic needs, company and care for ill people, and support for employment and rural and local development, which are vital for the entire province of Segovia", he pointed out.

Along these lines, the chairman of the Foundation has highlighted the fact that "fortunately for the society of Segovia, the close collaboration between Bankia and the Fundación Caja Segovia has become a happily consolidated reality that allows us to materialise a continuous stream of social projects by the associations of our capital and province, making it possible to respond to many of the needs, projects and concerns that cannot be addressed by Public Administrations".

Goirigolzarri also underlined that "in Segovia, Bankia is the bank of reference" and has ensured that "the difference for customers lies in trust and closeness". "We know that only by watching and listening to your stories are we capable of convincing and becoming better and eventually the best. What we refer to now as sustainability", he remarked.

In this regard, Bankia’s corporate regional manager in Castilla y León has acknowledged Bankia’s commitment to a province that is vital for the bank”. "The people of Segovia, its companies and the associations that carry out fundamental work to improve the quality of life of the most disadvantaged people are our raison d'etre”, stressed Peñas.

More proposals than in 2018

This year’s call for proposals, which was launched by Bankia and Fundación Caja Segovia to promote initiatives of the fabric of Segovian association, received 40 submissions, one more than the previous year.

The projects selected will focus on training and guidance actions aimed at employment, rural development or improving quality of life for disabled persons, together with other groups at risk of social exclusion, all of this within Segovia.

The list of projects that have obtained this aid is as follows:

  • Fundación Padre Garralda - Horizontes abiertos.
  • Coordinadora para el desarrollo integral del nordeste de Segovia (Codinse).
  • Unión de campesinos de Segovia - UCCL.
  • Asociación Honorse - Tierra de Pinares.
  • Fundación Red Íncola.
  • Asociación Espávila, formación y desarrollo social.
  • Association for rural development of Segovia South.
  • Spanish Association Against Cancer.
  • Amanecer Association. Segovia Mental Health.
  • Fundación Secretariado Gitano.
  • Asociación de enfermos de Alzheimer de Segovia - AFA Segovia.
  • Spanish Deaf and Blind Association.
  • Down Segovia ASIDOS.
  • Casa familiar Virgen de la Encarnación.
  • Ismur. (Rural Women’s Social Initiative).
  • Asociación de Caridad San Vicente de Paul.
  • Asociación de Personas con Autismo de Segovia y provincia.
  • Regional Federation of Retired Persons of Segovia.
  • Neurofuturo Segovia.
