Bankia and the Polytechnic University of Madrid (UPM) have awarded the prizes of the 15th competition of the university entrepreneurship program 'actúaupm', an initiative that aims to support the activities promoted by the UPM's entrepreneurship program.

A total of 1,287 participants and eight months of work, training, workshops and cons have culminated with the end of the ‘actúaupm’ awards, in which 48 of 530 initiatives were selected.

The grand prize, handed over by the Director of Development of Communication Projects of Bankia, Javier Tomé, was awarded to the company Dsigñ Cloud, an architecture startup that generates smart databases of three-dimensional digitisation of buildings for management and maintenance.

Tomé stressed that "at Bankia, we are delighted to participate in initiatives that empower the young talent of college students with an entrepreneurial spirit and who also create innovative startups that have a very positive impact on society".

Trucksters, a technology platform to connect truck drivers with transport companies to optimise long distance projects, achieve second place; Nextcrete, dedicated to a new generation of concrete that will open the possibility for more efficient sustainable architecture through the use of flexible materials, was awarded third place.

The fourth prize 'Students' went to Radian, an intuitive and affordable thermal simulation software, designed for the space industry without the need for installation or computing.

The eleven finalist startups of the 15th competition of the 'actúaupm' awards are the following:

  • AccuDrill
  • Vega
  • HEAT
  • Deverclo
  • Keroxkit
  • IDTS
  • AmcoSystems
  • Hiparcus
  • HOOP
  • Bloomod
  • ONCOREC Diagnostics

Bankia, in addition to the collaboration with the University in the award ceremony, will participate, within the 'actúaupm' program, in the Demo Days event: investment round tables, talks about innovation and entrepreneurship and workshops on technological entrepreneurship.

Bankia’s collaboration with the UPM made it possible to develop different actions carried out through the ‘actúaupm’ program launched in 2004. This initiative by the university to support entrepreneurship has promoted the creation of 247 companies that have attracted more than 70 million euros in the last ten years.

Bankia has committed to entrepreneurship and technological innovation in the University and it is doing so in partnership with Spain’s top technology university, the UPM.
