  • The principal novelty of the 2018-2019 season is the 'Tu cole a L'Alqueria' project, which will allow children to discover L'Alqueria and attend talks on the values of sport and the Culture of Effort
  • Bankia will also sponsor the sports kits of the 550 plus children of L'Alqueria del Basket
  • In the 'Triple Solidario' programme, the three-point field goals scored by both the boys’ and girls’ teams in their official competition matches, will be taken into account for the first time, and Bankia’s contribution will be raised up to 40,000 euros
  • The 'Bankia Valencia Basket Club Card' includes more advantages for its holders, who will be rewarded for identifying with its taronja colours with direct discounts on official club products

On the Víctor Luengo de L'Alqueria del Basket’s basketball court, Bankia and the Valencia Basket Club announced the renewal for one more season of the agreement under which they unite in transmitting to the young people of the Comunidad Valenciana the values of sport and the Culture of Effort via the bank’s support of the club’s basic sport and its youth team at L'Alqueria del Basket.

The relationship between these two entities started in the 2014-2015 season, so this programme is beginning its fifth campaign with new features, such as the 'Tu cole a L'Alqueria' project, which joins other already-known initiatives, such as the 'Triple Solidario' or the Bankia-VBC Card '.

Participating in the press conference was Bankia’s Territorial Corporate Manager for Valencia y Castellón, Jaime Casas; Bankia’s Corporate Brand Manager, Silvia Bajo, and the Managing Director of Valencia Basket, Paco Raga.

Both parties gave a positive assessment of the first four years of the joint initiative and announced some of the news for this fifth season of their collaboration.

Also, representing Bankia, Jaime Casas and Silvia Bajo made the symbolic gesture of handing a cheque for the value of 30,000 euros to Paco Raga. With Bankia’s financial contribution, a dozen clinics have been run in which more than 1,100 coaches have been trained.

For his part, Paco Raga gave Casas and Bajo a commemorative shirt for this event with the words 'Bankia 2014-2019' above a group photo of the representatives of Bankia, L'Alqueria del Basket and Valencia Basket, accompanied by the girls’ and boys’ youth teams of the taronja club.

"Close to the youth team"

Bankia’s Territorial Corporate Manager for Valencia y Castellón pointed out that "Bankia wanted to be close to the youth team, its coaches, the young people who strive every day in their studies and in sport and, of course, this club that, little by little, has become a national and international benchmark".

"It is a source of pride for us that our organisation, Bankia, appears on your sports kits, because you represent, like no one else, values such as teamwork, fair play, drive, sacrifice, commitment, effort ... values that we not only share, but that we also want to spread among all Valencian youth", underlined Jaime Casas.

Meanwhile, Paco Raga wanted to highlight that "for Valencia Basket, it is a great satisfaction to work with an entity like Bankia, that prioritises its actions for the transfer of values that are so closely related to our own ways of doing and thinking. And with our slogan of Culture of Effort."

"Therefore, both entities have decided to continue for another year our relationship with the campaign that we named 'Més que un Triple' upon its launch," announced the Managing Director of the taranjo club.

The initiatives of the 'Més que un triple' programme for the 2018/19 season are as follows:

  • Tu Cole in L'Alqueria. One of the great novelties of this course is the programme of visits that the Valencia Basket Club in L'Alqueria del Basket has developed with Bankia’s sponsorship and that is aimed at all the schools of the Valencian Community. The objective is that the children of the Valencian Community can, besides getting to know L`Alqueria, receive talks about the values of sport and the Culture of Effort. The programme will be run throughout the school year.
  • Bankia, on L'Alqueria del Basket’s kits: the entity will sponsor the sports kits of the more than 550 children of L'Alqueria del Basket. The Bankia logo will appear on the upper back of all the game shirts, in front of the number.
  • Valencia Basket Club Card from Bankia. In this new season, it will have more advantages for its holders, who, for identifying with the taronja colours, will be rewarded with direct discounts on official Valencia Basket products or with other special promotions that will be announced later. The essence remains the same (it is a fee-free card), as does the charitable cause associated with this card: a percentage of the amount derived from each purchase will be donated to the Valencia Basket 2000 Foundation.
  • Triple Solidario. This initiative will run for its fifth time, but with an important new feature. For every three-point field goal that Valencia Basket scores during its season, Bankia will donate 50 euros to the Valencia Basket 2000 Foundation to invest in the training of coaches for schools and the club youth team. What’s more, the three-point field goals scored by both the men’s and the women’s teams in their official competition matches this season, will be taken into account for the first time, and Bankia’s contribution will be raised to 40,000 euros.

"We are very happy that our solidarity scoreboard is present in the games played by the girls’ team, whose players won a place in the women's basketball league last year through hard work, and who, with their three-pointers, will add many more euros to our scoreboard," highlighted Bankia’s Corporate Brand Manager, Silvia Bajo.

In addition, it is expected that the special editions of the 'Triple Solidario' will be extended to both boys’ and girls’ matches, by which every three-pointer scored from the midfield in the match breaks, will double the contribution up to 100 euros. In the first four years of this initiative’s existence, more than 2,400 3-pointers have been recorded, which were converted into more than 100,000 euros that are invested entirely in initiatives aimed at the training, education and specialization of the L'Alqueria del Basket coaches.
