Bankia and the Caja de Canarias Foundation allocate 150,000 euros to the social projects of 35 associations in the islands

These grants are part of the call for 'Aid for Projects of Social Action 2019', promoted by both institutions and which celebrates its sixth edition.

Bankia and the Caja de Canarias Foundation will contribute €150,000 to social programs from a total of 35 Canarian associations that have submitted their initiatives to the 'Aid to Social Action Projects 2019' call which will benefit 12,000 Canarians.

The event took place at a ceremony held at the headquarters of the Caja de Canarias Foundation and was attended by the chairman of the Foundation, Blas Trujillo; the corporate manager of Bankia in the Islas Canarias, Federico Navarro; Bankia's Director of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), David Menéndez, and representatives of the selected associations.

According to the chairman of the Caja de Canarias Foundation, "with this event we are launching 35 projects that undoubtedly contribute to energising our society through special dedication and effort with the less fortunate made by these groups, the real protagonists of the calls, thus taking a step towards a more equal society".

The corporate manager of Bankia in the Islas Canarias has highlighted "the commitment of the entity, one more year, with the associations that work every day to improve the Canarian society" and "the pride that is for Bankia to collaborate with the Caja de Canarias Foundation to benefit the most underprivileged groups in the Islands".

This sixth consecutive edition of the projects has seen 75 proposals, 17 more than last year. The objective of the call for proposals is to boost employment and local development, support sectors of the population at risk of social exclusion, the elderly, people with disabilities and improve the quality of life of people on the islands.

The selected associations will focus on supporting the sectors of the population at risk of exclusion through programs that improve the quality of life of people with disabilities, the elderly and other socially vulnerable groups, as well as boosting local development and fostering employment between certain groups of the population. In total, these programs will directly benefit more than 12,000 Canarians from the islands of Gran Canaria, Tenerife, Lanzarote, Fuerteventura and La Palma.

  • Fundación Diagrama Intervención Psicosocial.
  • Asociación de Personas Sordas de Gran Canaria.

  • Asociación de Niños con Cáncer Pequeño Valiente.
  • CIVITAS Centros especializados en personas con discapacidad intelectual.
