In an event at the Centro Fundación Caja Rioja-Bankia Gran Vía

Bankia and the Caja Rioja Foundation allocate €80,000 to the social projects of 26 associations in Rioja

The 'Call for Social Action' celebrates its sixth edition in this autonomous community and through these aid programs have been promoted projects that have benefited more than 12,000 people.

  • A total of 33 proposals have been submitted to the call for proposals ‘Aid to Social Action Projects 2019’
  • The selected associations run projects in the fields of employment, rural development and helping elderly and disabled people.

Bankia and the Caja Rioja Foundation granted social aid for an amount of 80,000 euros to a total of 26 associations in Rioja that promote employment and improve the quality of life for elderly and disabled persons and groups at risk of social exclusion.

Participating in the event, held in the Centro Fundación Caja Rioja-Bankia Gran Vía, were Bankia's Corporate Director of the North Region Division, Julio Martín; Bankia's head of Corporate Social Responsibility, David Menéndez; and the President of the Caja Rioja Foundation, Pablo Arrieta, together with representatives of all the NGOs.

Bankia’s Corporate Manager of the North Region Division highlighted "the commitment of the entity, for yet another year, to Rioja associations that work every day to improve society". "Bankia is proud to work hand in hand with the Caja Rioja Foundation to help the most disadvantaged groups in the region”, said Begoña Hernández.

For his part, the general manager of Fundación Caja Rioja said that "this is the sixth edition of a call in which Bankia and the Caja Rioja Foundation collaborate on financing projects of entities that work in the following fields: employment, senior citizens, disabled people and rural development, aimed at improving the lives of the elderly, people with disabilities and groups at risk of social exclusion". "Since we started this aid program, more than 12,000 people have benefited from it. We are going to talk about how we have contributed to improving the lives of each of them", said Arturo Colina.

  • Fundación Diagrama Intervención Psicosocial-La Rioja.
  • Asociación para la Demencia de Alzheimer de Alfaro.

  • Asociación de Promoción Gitana de La Rioja.

One of the projects supported this year by Bankia and the Caja Rioja Foundation is the program carried out by Proyecto Hombre, where real and effective adaptation to the family, social and work environment is being pursued with the aim of achieving greater personal autonomy and structure.

Other selected projects are the social awareness and information campaign carried out by La Voja de Esperanza of La Rioja and Centro Travesía, by the Citizen Anti-AIDS Commission, which is being presented for the first time this year and is a close and accessible space to tend to the most basic needs of its users.

Some of the beneficiary associations are the Association for Alzheimer's Disease Alfaro, which improves the quality of life of its users and their families through workshops; Igual a Ti, which will renew technological aspects to support professionals who work in rehabilitation services; and Fibrorioja, with a functional and psychological recovery area.

The projects included this year in the Bankia and Caja Rioja Foundation take place both in Logroño and other towns in the region, such as Alfaro and Anguiano. They are aimed at immigrants, people at social and occupational risk, families without resources, inmates or ex-prisoners and persons with special needs.

The 'Call for Social Action 2019' is part of the collaboration agreement between Bankia and the Caja Rioja Foundation in 2019 to launch social action programs, as well as to carry out activities at the Caja Rioja - Bankia socio-cultural centres and support actions related to the agricultural industry.
