  • Enrique Blasco takes over the Employment Pension Plans Division
  • The bank manages 1,700 million euros in employment plans, 25% of the assets managed in pension plans
  • "We want to boost socially responsible investments, given that there is an increasing demand from companies and institutions to incorporate ethical, social and environmental criteria into the investment decision-making process", said Enrique Blasco

Bankia continues to strengthen the structure of its asset management business, which operates under the Bankia Asset Management brand name and which basically includes the activity of pension plans and investment funds.

Enrique Blasco Lozano takes over the management of employment pension plans, promoted by an SME, company or entity for its employees.

Bankia AM currently manages 1,700 million euros in employment plans, 25% of the total assets managed in pension plans and amounting to around 7 billion euros.

Blasco will report to the Equity and Mixed Funds Division managed by Augusto Caro.

Enrique Blasco has a degree in Economics and Business, specialised on finance, from the European Business Institution (Centro Universitario Villanueva) and a Bachelor’s Degree of Science in Business Administration from the University of Wales (United Kingdom). In addition, he holds the CEFA (Certified European Financial Analyst), CESGA, EFFAS Certified and ESG Analyst certificates.

Blasco joined the bank in 1998 and has over 20 years of experience in financial markets dedicated to the management of pension funds and portfolios. He has also had responsibilities regarding the strategy and positioning of investments in Private Equity funds and socially responsible investment.

"We want to strengthen socially responsible investments, since there is an increasing demand from companies and institutions to incorporate ethical, social and environmental criteria into the investment decision-making process, in a way that complements traditional financial criteria of liquidity, profitability and risk", said Enrique Blasco.

The new head of employment plans at Bankia is convinced that "the combination of these extra-financial criteria reduces reputational risks and, in the long term, should result in a better performance of the funds in terms of profitability".

Last April, Bankia’s Asset Management also strengthened its fund of funds with the addition of two new specialised managers: Eva Pérez Martín, to strengthen the management side, and Miguel Antonio Benitez Mata, to reinforce selection and monitoring.

Bankia’s Asset Management

Last year, Bankia launched the 'Bankia Asset Management' brand, the group's new commercial banner to encompass all collective management activities, including portfolio and asset management, aimed at both retail and institutional clients.

The objective is to create an own image for the asset management by the group, that is linked to Bankia, and is recognised by both the bank's distribution network and by customers.

"With this initiative we intend to make the collective management project, one of the bank’s strategic businesses, tangible, extending it beyond mere fund management, opening it out to portfolio management, the institutional investor or advice, among other attributes", said Rocío Eguiraun, Asset Management director at Bankia AM.
