  • The entity has launched, together with the Montemadrid Foundation, two calls for proposals, one of a social nature, worth one million euros, and another environmental one, for 300,000 euros, to support entities in Castilla-La Mancha and the Community of Madrid
  • Through the Red Solidaria programme, bank employees have selected nine projects in the five provinces to receive in excess of 45,000 euros of support, depending on the achievement of commercial objectives by the network of branches
  • Bankia is also donating more than 72,000 euros to employment plans run by Caritas and the Red Cross in Toledo, Ciudad Real, Guadalajara and Albacete
  • Once again, Bankia is donating 85,000 euros to support a WWF Spain reforestation project in Las Tablas de Daimiel (Ciudad Real)

This year Bankia is donating more than 200,000 euros to support a total of 17 social projects in Castilla-La Mancha thanks to partnership agreements with the Red Cross, Cáritas and WWF Adena. It is also participating in the Red Solidaria programme, through which bank employees support initiatives run by social entities by achieving the commercial objectives of the network of branches.

Bankia’s social action strategies in Castilla-La Mancha focus on job creation for young people, and those over 45, the long-term unemployed, people who are disabled and in danger of social exclusion, as well as on rural and local development and protecting the environment.

“In the complicated current situation, caused by Covid-19, Bankia is more committed than ever to those who, at regional and local levels, carry out specific, close and much-needed social projects that help to improve the day-to-day lives of people in situations of vulnerability living in Castilla-La Mancha”, underlined Bankia’s corporate regional director for Castilla-La Mancha and Extremadura, Jaime Campos.

Additionally, in collaboration with the Montemadrid Foundation, the bank has launched two calls for proposals, 50%, one of a social nature and the other environmental, aimed at entities in Castilla-La Mancha and the Community of Madrid.

The ‘Call for Social Action 2020’ supports with one million euros initiatives of associations in terms of employment, equal opportunities, social integration and improving the quality of life of people. In 2019, 15 entities in Castilla-La Mancha received more than 178,000 euros.

The 'Call for Environment and Sustainable Development' will distribute 300,000 euros to support projects on the conservation of nature and biodiversity, sustainable development, mitigation and adaptation to climate change, and research in Castilla-La Mancha and the Community of Madrid.

Mejora de la empleabilidad

With close to 27,000 euros, Bankia is supporting, together with Cáritas, two social and job placement projects for vulnerable people in Albacete, with job placement resources in rural areas of the Sierra, and in Ciudad Real, the province’s first textile reuse and recycling shop.

It also collaborates with 45,000 euros together with the Red Cross assemblies in Toledo, Ciudad Real, Guadalajara and Albacete for the development of routes back to work aimed at over-45s who are unemployed and long-term unemployed.

Furthermore, through the Red Solidaria programme, bank employees have selected a total of nine specific projects in the five provinces in the region to receive in excess of 45,000 euros of support, depending on the achievement of commercial objectives by the network of branches. “Red Solidaria is a programme that showcases the pride of belonging to Bankia and due to which the bank’s professionals, thanks to their work, support the groups and associations of their area that they themselves have chosen”, pointed out Campos.

Bankia

Bankia consolidates and reinforces its commitment to society through five priority lines of social action: employment and training, housing, local and rural development, disability and the environment. The bank is focusing its social investment on these areas and shows its commitment to society by involving the entire organisation and its employees. The Responsible Management policy is a capillary, grassroots programme that connects the bank’s welfare work with its corporate objectives. This enables Bankia to prioritise five of the 17 SDGs: Climate action (SDG 13), Decent work and economic growth (SDG 8), Quality education (SDG 4), Sustainable cities and communities (SDG 11) and SDG 17, which encompasses them all, Revitalise the global partnership for sustainable development.
