  • The donation of 10,000 euros is intended for research, training and cultural dissemination activities arranged by the teaching institution.
  • The event was attended by the chairman of Fundación Cajamurcia, Carlos Egea, the director of Cáritas in Cartagena, José Antonio Planes, and Bankia’s Regional Corporate Director in Murcia and Alicante, Olga García.

Bankia and Fundación Cajamurcia support the Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT) with 10,000 euros as part of the collaboration agreement signed by the first two entities in the field of Corporate Social Responsibility. The amount is intended to assist in the development of cultural and social activities, as well as other training, scientific and technological activities organized by the UPCT.

The agreements were renewed by the dean of the University, Alejandro Díaz, and the chairman of Fundación Cajamurcia, Carlos Egea in an act in which the Regional Corporate Manager of Bankia in Murcia and Alicante, Olga García, also participated.

After the signing, the dean Alejandro Díaz pointed out that "the support of Bankia and Fundación Cajamurcia to the research, training and cultural dissemination activities of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena is fundamental for the university community and for the general public".

Carlos Egea has assured that "the alliance with Bankia in CSR allows us to strengthen our commitment to this teaching institution, which, since its creation in 1998, has received the support of Fundación Cajamurcia in the form of annual contributions and specific collaborations for innovation projects (such as smart cards), research grants, the implementation of new study curricula or the implementation of important infrastructures such as the Casa del Estudiante ".

For her part, Olga García stressed that with this agreement Bankia doubles down on its willingness to maintain its collaboration with the Polytechnic University of Cartagena, "thus fulfilling our responsibility to support teaching, training and research as actions that promote the economic and social development of the Region of Murcia ".

Bankia consolidates and reinforces its commitment to society through five priority lines of social action: employment, training, housing, local and rural development and disability. The financial institution focuses its social investment on these areas and maintains its commitment to society through the involvement of its entire structure and professionals. The Corporate Social Responsibility policy is all-encompassing and approachable, as it links the social actions of the bank with its business in the areas in which the professionals detect issues.

Fundación Cajamurcia

Fundación Cajamurcia is strongly committed to the Region of Murcia, where it is an active participant in initiatives to drive social and cultural development. Its two main objectives are to foster actions that are clearly beneficial to society, particularly those that assist vulnerable groups (elderly people and people with disabilities, children, low-income families, immigrants...) and which support initiatives that further social and economic development, primarily projects in the areas of art, culture, education and research, and recovery of historic and natural heritage.
