Bankia and Fundación Cajamurcia have contributed 10,000 euros to Murcia’s Salzillo Museum, to go towards running the museum’s cultural activities, including both didactic, dissemination and communication activities, as well as exhibitions, research, documentation and preventive conservation.

This funding has been provided under the collaboration agreement between Bankia and Fundación Cajamurcia as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility commitments in the Murcia region.

The agreement was renewed by the Chairman of Fundación Cajamurcia, Carlos Egea, and the Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Salzillo Museum and of the Cofradía de Nuestro Padre Jesús Nazareno, Antonio Gómez Fayrén, in an event in which Bankia’s Murcia Metropolitan Area Manager, Asensio Martínez, also participated.

Gómez Fayrén thanked Bankia for its support and highlighted Fundación Cajamurcia’s ongoing commitment to the Salzillo Museum: “The Foundation is a member of its Board of Trustees and actively participated in the building’s recovery and its conversion into a museum, as well as in the restoration of the Church of Jesus, the headquarters of the Cofradía de Nuestro Padre Jesús Nazareno; without forgetting its help in restoring the Salzillo Nativity and the route of the Good Friday procession.”

For his part, Carlos Egea remarked that “as well as the ongoing support to the Salzillo Museum, our Foundation promotes the dissemination and popularisation of the Murcian sculptor’s work through various actions, such as publications, conferences and exhibitions.”

The latter include ‘Salzillo, witness of a century’, to celebrate the artist's third centenary, and ‘Salzillo and Caravaca de la Cruz’, as part of the commemorative Jubilee Year events in 2017.

Bankia’s Murcia Metropolitan Area Manager, Asensio Martínez, emphasised the bank’s commitment in the Region, saying “we offer our fully-fledged support to the running of cultural activities and to the dissemination of heritage and by means of the signed agreement, we want to highlight the wealth and richness of the Murcia Region and to help make it widely known.”

Bankia

Bankia consolidates and reinforces its commitment to society through five lines of social action, aimed at improving its social footprint, which are: housing/new poverty, education, employment, local/rural development and disabled persons. The bank focuses its social investment in these high-priority lines as a contribution to alleviating some of the most urgent needs in the current socio-economic context. The social responsibility policy is characterised by linking the bank’s social and business activities, where employees identity social and economic problems. The two fundamental hallmarks of Bankia’s social action are the involvement of all the bank’s structures and staff to commit to the social projects it supports and the proximity that it seeks in each of the social projects.

Fundación Cajamurcia

Fundación Cajamurcia is deeply committed to the Murcia Region, where it plays an active role in initiatives aimed at fostering social and cultural development. Its two main objectives are to foster actions that are clearly beneficial to society, particularly those that assist vulnerable groups (elderly people and people with disabilities, children, low-income families, immigrants...) and which support initiatives that further social and economic development, primarily projects in the areas of art, culture, education and research, and recovery of historic and natural heritage.
