  • They aim to back social actions that improve employability and quality of life for people who are dependent or at risk of exclusion
  • A total of 14 associations from the region have submitted their programmes to this year’s call for applicants
  • Selected associations will receive the grant at a ceremony held on 27 June at the Ateneu of Fundació Iluro

Bankia and Fundació Iluro will donate €30,000 to support 11 social programmes which will have a direct impact on the Maresme region, and were selected in the ‘Call for Proposals for Social Action 2019’ launched by both organisations.

The call for proposals, which is part of an annual agreement renewed for one additional year by Bankia and Fundació Iluro, aims to boost programmes that foster employment, shelter and support for dependent people, promote rehabilitation and social reintegration projects, as well as offering guidance, occupational training and support for families whilst covering their basic needs for food, hygiene, education and health, etc.

When selecting and evaluating the 14 projects, they assessed their social purpose, quality and technical development ability, economic efficiency, integration and social benefits, identification and number of beneficiaries, the skill and experience of the associations, as well as their coordination with other social agents, innovation and opportunities to take action.

The projects that will receive the grant are the following:

  • Associació de Familiars de Malalts d'Alzheimer del Maresme (AFAM).
  • Associació TEA – Asperger del Maresme.
  • Associació Veïns Rocafonda, l’Esperança i Ciutat Jardí.
  • Càrites Interparroquial de Mataró.
  • Fundació Àmbit Prevenció.
  • Fundació CEO del Maresme.
  • Fundació Friends.
  • Miquel Valls International Foundation against Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis.
  • Fundació Salut Mental Catalunya.
  • Fundació Sant Joaquim.
  • Sant Vicenç de Paül.

The grants will be awarded to the associations at a ceremony held on Wednesday, 27 June at the Ateneu of Fundació Iluro, which will be attended by representatives of the selected projects.

Bankia

Bankia consolidates and reinforces its commitment to society through five priority lines of social action: employment and training, housing, local and rural development, disability and the environment. The financial institution focuses its social investment on these areas and maintains its commitment to society through the involvement of its entire structure and professionals. The Corporate Social Responsibility policy is all-encompassing and approachable, as it links the social actions of the bank with its business in the areas in which the professionals themselves find socio-economic problems and vulnerable groups.

Fundació Iluro

Fundació Iluro’s social and cultural vocation is well established in the city of Mataró. Established in 2013, the Board is made up of many of the city’s cultural institutions, and by people of recognised prestige nominated by the rest of the trustees. Fundació Iluro pursues its social aims in three ways: job inclusion (employing people with disabilities), social and cultural inclusion of special groups (through reading clubs at the Popular Library), and financing social and cultural projects that impact the city. All the approaches have a common goal, to improve the lives of people with special abilities and at risk of exclusion, whilst conveying the values of the foundation.

When it comes to culture, it manages the People’s Library of Mataró, which has a significant historic fond; Casa Coll i Regàs, a modernist house designed by the architect Josep Puig i Cadafalch; the Ateneu exhibition centre, which hosts exhibitions of different artistic disciplines produced inhouse and by third parties; and the Iluro Award, which has already been called 61 times and distinguishes historical local and regional monographic works.
