  • A total of 61 proposals were presented to the joint call for proposals of ‘Aid for Social Action Projects 2018’
  • The goal is to promote local development, support sectors of the population at risk of social exclusion and improve the quality of life of disabled persons, senior citizens and other vulnerable groups.

This Thursday, Bankia and the Caja Castellón Foundation awarded 100,000 euros in subsidies to a total of 39 associations in Castellón that had submitted their initiatives to the call for 'Aid for Social Action Projects 2018'.

Participating in the ceremony, which took place in the San Miguel Hall of Castellón, was the Mayoress of Castellón, Amparo Marco, the president of the Caja Castellón Foundation, José Quereda, and the area directors of Bankia in Castellón, Vicente Miralles and Rafael Marín. Bankia and Fundación Sa Nostra have signed a collaboration agreement that will, as its first step, allocate 100,000 euros to those affected by the Sant Llorenç floods.

This initiative is the first concrete action agreed between Bankia and the Fundación Sa Nostra, given the seriousness of the situation in Sant Llorenç after the torrential rains last Tuesday, and is part of a global joint collaboration agreement through which Bankia is dedicating 500,000 euros to social and environmental projects that it will develop together with Fundación Sa Nostra in the Balearic Islands.

The agreement was signed this week by Bankia's Chairman, José Ignacio Goirigolzarri, and the Chairman of Fundación Sa Nostra, Jaime Canudas, at Bankia’s Territorial Headquarters in the Balearic Islands.

Bankia has made itself available to the Balearic authorities after the floods and has set up an account number (ES41 2038 6579 8360 0067 5091), in collaboration with the Local Government of Sant Llorenç, to raise funds for those affected by the floods.

Goirigolzarri stated that “the signing of this agreement demonstrates Bankia's commitment to the Balearic Islands, the Fundación Sa Nostra and the principal needs of the Islands.”

Bankia’s Chairman pledged “all of his support to those affected by the torrential rains.” “We are moved by the event, which affects a region to which we are bound by a strong commitment. We regret what happened and we send our condolences, solidarity and help to the families of the deceased and those affected,” he declared.

Canudas, meanwhile, pointed out that “this agreement highlights Bankia’s strong social commitment to the territory and that both entities are together embarking on a period of collaboration to work in favour of the social development and welfare of Balearic society."

Bankia thus demonstrates its commitment to the Balearic Islands and will be organising a large part of its social and environmental action in the Islands through Fundación Sa Nostra, which has experience and knowledge of the islands.

In addition, the agreement encompasses the joint implementation of social and environmental initiatives of impact in the Balearic Islands, which are expected to be launched in the coming weeks.
