In September, Bankia will launch the ‘First Call for Environment and Sustainable Development Project Proposals’ in conjunction with Ávila Foundation, Segovia Foundation, Caja Rioja Foundation, La Caja de Canarias Foundation, Iluro Foundation, CajaGranada Foundation, Cajamurcia Foundation, Sa Nostra foundation and Caixa Castelló Foundation, with the aim of providing 20,000 euros in funding to support environmental projects committed to sustainable development and nature conservation in the main regions where the bank has a presence.

The call for proposals, which will be open from 1 September and 21 September, is aimed at supporting projects that promote the conservation, restoration and sustainable use of terrestrial, marine and freshwater ecosystems; help reduce and recycle waste, especially plastics; and foster technological innovation aimed at reducing or preventing environmental damage. Among other aspects, the impact on reducing the carbon footprint will be highly valued.

The grants will be awarded to private non-profit entities working to protect nature and the environment in the provinces within the geographical scope of action of Bankia's original foundations. Project proposals can be submitted online through the websites of Bankia En Acción and the individual foundations.

The projects will be evaluated by a jury made up of representatives of the foundations, Bankia and a specialized technical consultancy. The awards will be announced in November.

In addition, the call for environmental project proposals will be launched in coming days in conjunction with the Bancaja Foundation in the three provinces of the Valencian Community.

For their part, in April of this year, Bankia and the Montemadrid Foundation launched their ‘Second Call for Environment and Sustainable Development Project Proposals’, in which the two entities are collaborating at 50%. The awards will be announced shortly.

This call for proposals is part of Bankia’s yearly collaboration with the original foundations and, as a result of which, this year they have also promoted the ‘2020 Call for Social Action Grants’ to support social projects.
