  • It manages more than 19.4 billion euros in these products and for the first time goes beyond 7% market share, in line with the objectives set in its Strategic Plan to reach 7.2% at the end of 2020
  • It increases its managed assets by 15.24%, a growth rate over twice as high as the fund market as a whole, standing at 7.05%
  • 'Bankia Expert Management', the entity's portfolio management service, has accounted for most of the deposits with an advance of more than 1.1 billion euros. With this, it totals more than 3.4 billion under management
  • Among the private clients, the progress made by the 'Soy Así Cauto' funds, with 430 million euros raised, and 'Mixto Dividendos', with more than 200 million euros, were also noteworthy

Bankia has been the leader of net investment fund raising in 2019 in Spain, with a figure of 1.471 billion euros, according to provisional data from Inverco.

In absolute figures, the industry as a whole grew by 742 million euros in 2019 in net deposits, while Bankia grew by 1.471 billion euros. In other words, without the growth of Bankia, the volume of deposits from the system would have experienced a decrease of over 700 million euros.

In addition, the entity chaired by José Ignacio Goirigolzarri was the only one among the five main Spanish banks that closed 2019 with net positive deposits in investment funds.

With this, Bankia manages more than 19.4 billion euros in these products and raises its market share by half a percentage point in one year. It thus goes beyond 7% market share for the first time in its history and is in line with meeting the objectives set out in its Strategic Plan: ending 2020 with a market share in investment funds of 7.2%, which would mean an increase of 82 basis points in three years.

We are very pleased with the evolution of the investment fund business in the entity during 2019, which confirms that the objectives set in our Strategic Plan are within our reach.

Fernando Sobrini
Deputy General Director of Asset and Investee Management at Bankia

With these figures, Bankia increases its managed assets by 15.24%, a growth rate over twice as high as the fund market as a whole, standing at 7.05%.

"We are very pleased with the evolution of the investment fund business in the entity during 2019, which confirms that the objectives set in our Strategic Plan are within our reach", said Fernando Sobrini, Deputy General Director of Asset and Investee Management at Bankia.

"But the most important thing is that this outcome is the result of the good reception that our different initiatives have had among our customers, such as the 'Bankia Expert Management' portfolio management service, as well as their trust in us to manage their assets”, added Sobrini.

A large part of Bankia's growth has been based on the great reception of the bank's portfolio management service among customers 'Bankia Expert Management'. The income accumulated during the year for this service exceeded 1.1 billion euros, of which more than 70% came from external deposits (new contributions and transfers from third parties). With this, 'Bankia Expert Management' now manages more than 3.4 billion euros, 16% of the total volume of investment funds of Bankia AM.

'Bankia Expert Management' has brought forth an important leap forward in the bank’s proposal for personalised investment solutions to meet the savings needs of each customer. The entity manages the customer's portfolio following consistent and coherent asset allocation parameters. Thus, customers can invest their savings in one of the four investment fund portfolios. Each of these portfolios has different levels of volatility and return expectations:

  • ‘Easy Portfolio’, for conservative or short-term savings profiles, with a maximum volatility of 5% and an average position in variable income around 15%.
  • ‘Balanced Portfolio’, for intermediate or moderate investor profiles, with a maximum volatility of 10% and an average position on the stock market of 40%.
  • ‘Growing Portfolio’, for long-term or dynamic profiles, with a maximum level of volatility of 20% and an average equity position of around 60%.
  • ‘Advanced Portfolio’, aimed at decisive or very long-term investment profiles, with unlimited volatility and an average position in the stock market of over 65%.

Characteristics of management

'Bankia Expert Management' offers management characterised by the following parameters:

  • Professional management, carried out by a management team with more than 25 years of experience in the industry. It will be done in accordance with the investor profile and customer expectations.
  • Active management, which adapts the portfolio constantly, trying to take advantage of investment opportunities in the markets and protecting it from volatile periods.
  • With high diversification, which is carried out mainly through funds of funds, which grant access to national or international funds and exclusive products, which, by their nature, would not be accessible to retail investors.

In addition to the portfolio management service, private customers have highlighted the progress they have experienced in the year 'Bankia Soy Así Cauto', with 430 million euros managed, or 'Bankia Mixto Dividendos', a distribution fund that in 2019 has paid a dividend of 3%, with more than 200 million euros.
