Bankia offers a free home shopping service for 1 million pensioners

The personalized service "We are by your side" wants to prevent those over 65 from leaving home to make basic purchases due to the health crisis. This initiative will be operational until June 7.

  • The '24-hour Home Pharmacy' service allows customers to order a couple of pharmacy orders to their home until 7 June, even picking up the prescription at their home.
  • The initiative 'We do your groceries' offers Bankia customers two supermarket orders delivered directly to their home.
  • In addition, Alares enables an exclusive telephone number for Bankia customers to provide health advice and psychological support

Bankia, in collaboration with Alares, offers 1 million pensioners over 65 years of age a free personalised home assistance service so they don’t have to leave their homes to buy groceries or go to a pharmacy.

‘We are by your side’ is an initiative launched by the bank within the comprehensive package of measures to address the challenges of the Covid-19 crisis. This service will be operational until 7 June.

The initiative includes two '24-hour Home Pharmacy' services provided by Alares that allow customers to have their pharmacy order delivered to their home; it even offers the possibility of picking up their prescription at any time of the day and within 3 hours.

On the other hand, the 'We do your groceries' service gives customers over 65 years of age the possibility of delivering two orders -one shopping cart- from a market or supermarket to their homes, in a period of between 6 hours and 3 business days after placing the order and depending on the needs of the customers, during the validity of the service.

Alares has also enabled an exclusive phone line for Bankia customers, 'Bankia By Your Side', to provide health advice and psychological support so that customers can “chat” and “clear up doubts” with a team of doctors and psychologists.

This 24-hour medical advice will help Bankia customers over 65 years of age with advice on medical emergencies, interpretation of symptoms, diagnoses and treatments, household accidents, paediatric services, information on illnesses or hospital centres and pharmacies.

The psychological support service will be available from Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., and 24 hours in the case of emergencies, for help, advice and specialised guidance on personal crises, grief counselling, depression, anxiety, accidents and separations, among other situations .

How to request the service

In order to benefit from this service, Bankia will contact customers who have authorised the use of these channels by text message, email, online channels or telephone, and provide a free service code that can be redeemed or by email at atuladokbankia@alares.es so that Alares members can request the home pharmacy or groceries services, as well as medical advice and psychological support.

In order to be closer than ever, the bank will contact 600,000 customers through text message, mail or online channels; all other customers can access these services by calling their managers to ask any questions, same as with the 'Pension Advance' campaign, which advanced the payment of pensions by two days with the aim of avoiding crowds that might affect their health and, as far as possible, preventing these customers from having to go to an office.
