Bankia started advancing the first payment to ERTE (temporary unemployment) recipients who have been notified to the entity this 14 May by the State Public Employment Service (SEPE).

In this way, the SEPE will periodically send a file with the information of the recipients and Bankia will advance the payment to customers, as it receives this information from SEPE.

The entity is bound by the agreement reached between the Ministry of Labour and Social Economy, through the State Public Employment Service (SEPE), and the CECA, AEB and Unacc banking associations, whereby financial institutions will advance the first payment to ERTE recipients.

With this agreement, financial institutions will advance the payment of unemployment benefits for workers affected by temporary job adjustments derived from the current situation caused by COVID-19.

Persons who have received benefits from the SEPE may collect the first payment without having to wait until the usual date, which is between the 10th and the 15th of each month.

The interest rate applied to this transaction will be 0% (AER 0%) and no fee or other expenses will be charged to execute this operation. In addition, no guarantee will be necessary.

In this regard, beneficiaries of advance payments may be persons who have received unemployment benefits or allowances since 1 May and with economic effects since 14 March 2020 and the effective date of this agreement, which is valid for three months, can be extended to an additional three months.

In this way, each beneficiary may only access this advance payment once, coinciding with the payment of the first monthly allowance for unemployment benefits or allowances to which they were entitled after requesting the advanced payment.
