Bankia has renewed and extended its agreement with Fundación Social y Deportiva Bathco (Bathco Social and Sporting Foundation, Fusodeba) for the 2019-2020 season, with the aim of supporting initiatives that encourage the inclusion of vulnerable groups and promote sport among children, young people and adults in Cantabria.

The purpose of this collaboration, which is being reissued for the second consecutive year, is to identify the priority social demands in the region, as well as to drive social investment that generates wealth in the region and supports the most vulnerable groups.

Likewise, this alliance seeks to promote sport among young people through a series of values that contribute to their personal and collective growth.

In this way, within the framework of the agreement, Bankia will participate in various social and informative projects of the Foundation, such as workshops or campaigns to promote sport in Cantabrian schools.

Bankia Cantabria and Asturias area manager, Julio Rodríguez-Acha, took part in the signing ceremony, which was held at the offices of Fusodeba in Santander; he was also accompanied by the director of the Bankia Business Centre in Santander, Santiago Cifrián, and the chairman of Fusodeba, José López.

The Bankia’s area manager for Cantabria and Asturias stressed that “this collaboration shows the bank’s commitment to projects that foster inclusion through social and sports initiatives” and has highlighted the “important work that is carried out by Fundación Bathco”.

For his part, the director of the Bankia Business Centre in Santander explained “the importance for the bank of being able to work hand in hand and supporting the work of a Foundation that combines welfare and social aspects, as it reinforces Bankia’s commitment to transforming the environment”.

The chairman of Fusodeba said that “we are proud and grateful that Bankia is extending its involvement with the Foundation. Their financial and organisational support is essential to help improve the economic, social and cultural conditions of the most vulnerable groups in our region”.

Different groups that are at risk of exclusion and around 490 athletes in the region benefit from the involvement of companies in the Cantabria region with Fusodeba.

For the 2019-2020 season, the Foundation emphasises on involvement and participation to raise the necessary funds for the development of the social and sporting action plan and, thus, to increase the number of beneficiaries.

About Fusodeba

Fundación Social y Deportiva Bathco was founded with two objectives: the promotion of social actions aimed at groups of varying degrees of vulnerability and the promotion of sport among children, young people and adults. In order to achieve the foundational aims, this non-profit entity seeks partnerships with public or private entities that allow for a better development of the programmed activities and an increase in its number of programmes with the aim of reaching a greater number of beneficiaries.

Bankia

Bankia consolidates and reinforces its commitment to society through five priority lines of social action: employment and training, housing, local and rural development, disability and the environment. The financial institution focuses its social investment on these areas and maintains its commitment to society through the involvement of its entire structure and professionals. The Responsible Management policy is all-encompassing and approachable, as it links the social actions of the bank with its goals. Thus, Bankia makes a priority contribution to nine of the 17 SDGs, including decent work and economic growth; industry, innovation and infrastructure; action for climate, and affordable, clean energy.
