Bankia and the Sa Nostra Foundation provide 120,000 euros to support the social programs of 33 associations in the Islas Baleares

The act of delivering the aid was attended by the corporate director of the Bankia Territorial in the Islas Baleares, Antoni Serra, and the director of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) of Bankia, David Menéndez.

Bankia and the Sa Nostra Foundation have given €120,000 to social programs from a total of 33 Balearic associations that have submitted their initiatives to the 'Aid to Social Action Projects 2019' call. The projects of these associations will benefit more than 48,000 people in the islands.

The event took place at a ceremony held at the headquarters of the Sa Nostra Foundation and was attended by the chairman of the Foundation, Jaime Canudas; the regional corporate manager of Bankia in the Islas Baleares, Antoni Serra; Bankia's Director of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), David Menéndez, and representatives of the selected associations.

The chairman of the Sa Nostra Foundation highlighted the "well-defined and programmed projects" presented by the 33 selected associations. Jaime Canudas wished to underline "the excellent work that these non-profit organisations carry out on a daily basis, with dedication and passion, to help those who need it most in our society".

The regional corporate manager of Bankia in the Islas Baleares mentioned "the work of all the associations of the islands that work every day to improve the quality of life of people at risk of exclusion". "At Bankia we are delighted to pull our weight for actions such as the ones carried out by regional and local associations; and what better way to do it than through the Sa Nostra Foundation", added Serra.

On behalf of the selected associations, José Luis Jofré, from Aspanadif, thanked the social contributions because "they will serve to attend to the needs of the most disadvantaged groups of society, and bring their rights to an equal level to the rest of the population".

A total of 43 proposals have been submitted to the first edition of the call for proposals ‘Aid to Social Action Projects 2019’. The objective is to boost employment and local development end help senior citizens and disabled people with the aim of improving the quality of life of groups at risk of social exclusion in the Islas Baleares.

The selected associations will focus on supporting the sectors of the population at risk of exclusion through programs that improve the quality of life of people with disabilities, the elderly and other socially vulnerable groups, as well as boosting local development and fostering employment between certain groups of the population of the islands, benefiting over 48,000 people.
