  • For the third year running, Bank will be an official sponsor of one of the top events in the book sector in Spain
  • It will sponsor the Bankia Cultural Activities Pavilion hosting the main events at the fair
  • Bankia will provide two mobile branches for visitors: buses that can be used by exhibitors and the public alike to carry out ordinary bank transactions without having to leave the park

Bankia has signed an agreement with the Madrid Booksellers Association to sponsor the 77th Madrid Book Fair being held in the capital’s Buen Retiro Park between 25 May and 10 June.

The financial institution will be an official sponsor and also exclusive sponsor among financial-sector entities. It will also sponsor the Bankia Cultural Activities Pavilion hosting the main events at the fair.

The agreement was signed at Bankia head offices by Bankia’s corporate director for Madrid North, Eugenio Solla; and Manuel Gil, director of the Book Fair.

“Supporting the Madrid Book Fair – one of the top events in the book sector in Spain – for the third year running shows Bankia’s commitment to culture”, underlined Eugenio Solla, corporate director for Madrid North.

This year’s event under the slogan “Read to discover, read to imagine” and with Romania as invited country will attract the most renowed booksellers, publishers, distributors and authors, and plays a decisive role in encouraging people across the country to buy and read books. The Madrid Book Fair sponsorship is connected with Bankia’s policy to sponsor cultural projects.

The director of the Book Fair also underlined “the importance of an insttitution such as Bankia firmly backing the Madrid Book Fair, which is enabling the event to take on a significant cultural role”.

Mobile branches

Bankia will also provide two mobile branches for visitors to the Book Fair: buses that can be used to carry out ordinary bank transactions. “Bankia’s mobile branches will make it easier for the booksellers, publishers, distributors and authors as well as the thousands of members of the public who will visit the Retiro over the coming days to withdraw cash without having to leave the park”, Solla said.

The agreement signed with the Madrid Booksellers Association also offers members of the association the opportunity to access Bankia’s financial products under favourable terms, especially business insurance and point-of-sale (POS) terminals.

In support of the booksellers at the Book Fair, Bankia will also hold a draw for four prizes of 500 euros each to those who have a POS terminal contract with the bank.
