  • The Municipal Sports Institute (IMD), with the participation of volunteers, sponsors and collaborators, is arranging the race on 31 December, along with photography and costume contests
  • The most massive event of the year, in its different categories, maintains the organisational format of the latest editions

Bankia and the City Council of Segovia, through the Municipal Sports Institute (IMD) and with the participation of volunteers and collaborators, are holding the '2019 New Year’s Race of Segovia'.

The event, which has the largest number of runners of all ages, is open to anyone, whether federated or not, as long as they have previously registered and wear their corresponding race number. Those interested can register at the Nueva Segovia Civic Centre from 27 to 30 December. On the same day of the race, on 31 December, they can register at the Civic Centre and at the tent located in Azoguejo.

The price for minors is 2 euros, for adults it is 5 euros with a municipal sports card and 10 without it. It will also be free for people with disabilities and unemployed runners.

Bankia’s area director Segovia Centre-South, José Gabriel García, stressed that “Bankia is one more runner at this famous end of the year race that takes place in a location as beautiful as our city and which always has a great participation; that is why we could not miss it this year”.

"For the bank, supporting this race for another confirms our commitment to the city of Segovia, essential for the bank and to sport, which represents values we identify very strongly with: effort, camaraderie and self-improvement”, added García.

The routes and schedules will be the same as in the previous edition. Pre-junior runners to teenagers will run through a route on the Aqueduct avenue between 4.45 pm and 6.14 pm; the prizes will be handed out afterwards at the podium installed in the Azoguejo.

After that, the 'Solidarity Walk' will start at 6.30 pm towards the Plaza Mayor. The price is 5 euros and this year the proceeds will go to the Red Cross for the 'Move for foster care' program.

The 5-kilometre route will start at Vía Roma avenue. Young and veteran runners will start at 7.10 p.m.

The runners may take part in the event in disguise and thus participate in the IMD competition. In addition, there is a photography competition, open to everyone.

The first three prizes for the adult category will be awarded at the podium in the Plaza Mayor. The IMD will hold a subsequent public event to deliver the awards to the other categories.

The volunteers, around 150 people each year, will once again play a fundamental role in the race.

The Rules and all the information pertaining to the New Year’s Race are available on the IMD website. It also includes the terms for the photography and costume contest, with two prizes of 200 and 100 euros for the former, 200 euros for the best costume for children and for adults, and another 200 euros for the best group costume. The deadline for submission will be from 2 to 10 January.
