Bankia supported companies in their foreign trade activity with almost €7 billion by June, 7% more

Until June, the entity destined 6,953 million euros to finance the export and import activities of the Spanish companies, registering an increase in the amount granted and the number of formalized operations.

Bankia allocated a total of 6.953 billion euros to support the foreign trade activity of Spanish companies during the first half of 2019. This amount represents a growth of 7% compared to the 6.497 billion granted in the same period of the previous year.

The increase in foreign trade activity was also shown in an increase in the number of operations, for a total of 130,761 executions, an 8.3% increase.

Bankia's financial support for foreign trade was allocated to the financing of both exports and imports, and documentary guarantees and credits issued and received by companies, fundamental instruments for Spanish companies to participate in tenders and develop international projects.

The activity of financing exports and imports to companies grew by 5% in the period, from 5.169 to 5.427 billion euros.

In addition, Bankia granted international endorsements and documentary credits to companies and at the behest of companies for about 1.526 billion euros during the first half of the year, a 15% increase from the figures of the first six months of 2018.

Per autonomous community, during the first six months of the year Bankia granted 2.985 billion euros to companies in the Comunidad de Madrid to financially support their foreign trade activities, a 7.4% year-on-year increase.

It was followed by companies based in Cataluña and Comunidad Valenciana, with 1.053 billion and 765 million euros, respectively. The support provided to companies in País Vasco, with 407 million; Andalucía, with 378; and Galicia, with 229 million, was also significant.

Among the rest of the communities in which Bankia has a strong presence, Murcia stands out, with 230 million euros of support for its foreign trade business fabric, and Castilla y León, with 171 million euros.

For its part, the amount in Castilla-La Mancha reached 120 million euros, 103 million euros in Asturias and Islas Canarias and 49 million euros in Baleares.
