Bankia supports Casa Caridad with 50,000 euros to combat exclusion in the Comunidad Valenciana

This collaboration is another example of the social commitment that the organization maintains to help the most disadvantaged people in society, and in this specific case with children.

  • The president of Casa Caridad, Luis Miralles, has acknowledged that "thanks to the involvement of Bankia with this type of donations and agreements we can open the doors of Casa Caridad twenty-four hours a day".

Bankia supports Casa Caridad with 50,000 euros to pay for the rations of the soup kitchens of the association for a month, as well as Christmas gifts to more than 150 vulnerable school children during the holiday season.

Bankia’s contribution will make it possible for the association to provide more than 1,000 servings of daily food in its soup kitchens, both lunch and dinner, as well as hand out bags with food and sandwiches.

On the other hand, this collaboration will also be allocated to the acquisition of Christmas gifts for children studying at the Casa Caridad Nursery Schools.

The agreement was signed at the Casa Caridad headquarters by Bankia’s Corporate Regional Director in Valencia and Castellón, Jaime Casas; the coordinator of the General Direction of Communication in the Comunidad Valenciana, Isabel Rubio; and the president of the Casa Caridad Association, Luis Miralles.

The president of Casa Caridad extended his gratitude for "the involvement and continued support of Bankia to our association. "Thanks to institutions like this, NGOs can be open all day every day to care for the most disadvantaged while they reintegrate into society," he said.

Bankia’s Regional Corporate Director stressed that "this collaboration is another example of the bank’s commitment with the Comunidad Valenciana and with the most disadvantaged people in the region."

"Our support is expressed through associations that, day by day, work to improve the quality of life of people at risk of social exclusion and even more so during Christmas," said Jaime Casas.

Bankia, 'Company with Gold Value'

The president of Casa Caridad has remarked that “businesses, regardless of their size, are essential for social organizations to provide a decent life for people at risk of exclusion." For this purpose, Casa Caridad has created the 'Companies with Value' badges for all the companies that collaborate each year with them to maintain their services.

"Bankia is an example of a 'Company with Gold Value', an institution that is committed to the common good and helping those who need it most," said Miralles, who added that the bank "has shown its commitment to our project since 2014, with annual contributions and other extraordinary contributions to collaborate in everything we have needed such as the donation of 60,000 euros for the adaptation and furnishing of the Benicalap Social Multi-centre ".

The financial institution focuses its social investment on these areas and maintains its commitment to society through the involvement of its entire structure and professionals. The Corporate Social Responsibility policy is all-encompassing and approachable, as it links the social actions of the bank with its business in the areas in which the professionals detect issues.

Casa Caridad

Casa Caridad Valencia is a private charitable institution, declared of public usefulness, dedicated to meeting the most basic needs of homeless people and people at risk of social exclusion. Currently, its services include soup kitchens, shelters, nursery schools, daycare centres, hygiene and health programs, leisure outings and housing and employment programs. In addition to the headquarters, the charity has a Social Multi-centre in Benicalap (Valencia) aimed at providing services to ill people and dysfunctional families. Each year it distributes more than 300,000 food rations, its shelters host more than 30,000 homeless people and the nursery schools take care of 150 children between 1 and 3 years old. Through these services, the Department of Social Work supports social reintegration with personalised follow-up. It has a team of almost 300 volunteers. In addition to its own centres (headquarters at Paseo de la Pechina, Benicalap's Social Multi-centre and Torrent's Children's School), the Association manages another soup kitchen in Valencia.

65 attendees took part this Thursday in the first Dualiza Encounter held in Ávila by Dualiza Bankia (Bankia Foundation's brand for Dual Training to promote vocational training and its dual mode) and FP Empresa, in collaboration with the regional government of Castilla y León and the Federación Abulense de Empresarios CONFAE.

The participants analysed the status of Vocational Training and its dual modality in the region and looked for ways to promote it through an increase in the relations between schools and companies.

The meeting has been focused on the health, transport and logistics, installation and maintenance, electricity and electronics, social and cultural services and the community sectors.

Bankia's area manager in Ávila, Óscar José Pérez Blázquez, highlighted "the importance of events like this one to help boost relations between schools and companies, in order to develop training that responds to the needs of the labour market of the region". He recalled that this meeting is "a clear commitment of Bankia to education and training. And this is why we are here today, to listen to entrepreneurs and schools and to achieve synergies that contribute to fostering dual training".

The Dualiza Meetings seek to close the gap between different sectors with the aim of finding ways of working together through Dual Vocational Training. In 2018 alone, Dualiza Bankia and FPempresa held meetings in Las Palmas, Tenerife, Badajoz and Granada. Many of these meetings have provided an introduction to dual training for people who were not familiar with it and have served to carry out joint collaboration projects.

Dualiza Bankia is the brand through which the Bankia Foundation for Dual Training carries out all of its promotion and prestige activities regarding vocational training and dual vocational training, keeping in mind that it improves the employability of students and the competitiveness of companies. Bankia's Director of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), David Menéndez, underlined "Bankia's commitment, both internally and externally, to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)" on the International Day of Families because "a responsible behaviour can be the stepping stone for change".

Menéndez said this at the round table 'Families and Climate Action’ held by the Family Watch in Congress, in which representatives of the Home Renaissance Foundation, Car2go and Bridlife also participated.

Bankia's CSR director has highlighted the need to fight against climate change and the fact that the bank helps to provide families with products that contribute to this goal, such as credits for the financing of hybrid cars, to renovate their home for better energy efficiency and "socially responsible" investment funds.

Likewise, Menéndez has ensured that Bankia has a firm commitment to promoting financial education in a "very relevant" issue such as the fight against climate change and, in this regard, has pointed to Bankia’s commitment to the 2030 Agenda.

Bankia makes a priority contribution to advancing nine of the 17 SDGs, including decent working conditions and economic growth, industry, innovation and infrastructure; affordable, clean energy; gender equality; quality education and the fight against climate change.

In addition, Menéndez stressed that Bankia has allocated 100 million euros to social and environmental projects in the last six years, benefiting more than 4,200 associations and 2.4 million people.

  • The 'Aid to Social Action Projects 2019' project, which has attracted 40 proposals, will be presented on 10 July in the Torreón de Lozoya of the Caja Segovia Foundation
  • The goal is to promote local development, support sectors of the population at risk of social exclusion and improve the quality of life of disabled persons, senior citizens and other vulnerable groups.

Bankia and the Caja Segovia Foundation will contribute €60,000 to social programs from a total of 22 Segovian associations that have submitted their initiatives to the 'Aid to Social Action Projects 2019' call.

The goal of this call for proposals is to promote local development, support population sectors at risk of social exclusion and improve the quality of life of disabled persons, senior citizens and other socially vulnerable groups.

This year’s edition, launched by Bankia and the Caja Segovia Foundation to promote initiatives in the Segovia network, 40 proposals have been submitted, one more than last year.

The projects selected will focus on training and guidance actions aimed at employment, rural development or improving quality of life for disabled persons, together with other groups at risk of social exclusion, all of this within Segovia.

The list of projects that have obtained this aid is as follows:

  • Paladio Arte Association.
  • Padre Garralda Foundation - Horizontes Abiertos.

  • Association for rural development of Segovia South.
  • Spanish Association Against Cancer.

  • Fundación Secretariado Gitano.
  • Association of Alzheimer's patients of Segovia - AFA Segovia.
  • Spanish Deaf and Blind Association.
  • Down Segovia ASIDOS.

The IES Cristo del Rosario school, Dualiza Bankia (the brand through which the Bankia Foundation for Dual Training promotes vocational training) and the company Deutz have presented the first vocational specialisation training in Extremadura, promoted thanks to the selection of the project in the Dualiza Call. It will start in September when the degree gets validated.

The training will provide dual training to the 15 best students in the region in mechanical manufacturing and mechatronics and industrial robotics to receive training in Industry 4.0 given by the company Deutz. During the training they will study automated internal logistics, collaborative robots, big data, CAM simulation, everything related to Smart Factory or the manufacturing of the future, which will make production more sustainable and smarter.

This model only works in a similar way in the País Vasco, where students are trained in dual vocational training for two years before embarking on another year of specialisation. These trainings are not approved at the national level.

The presentation was made during an event to present the diploma to the educational centre and to the company Deutz for their participation in the first edition of the Dualiza Call.

During the ceremony, the territorial coordinator of Dualiza Bankia, Eva Aguado, highlighted "the quality of the project promoted by Cristo del Rosario and Deutz, which allows us not only to adapt the training of dual vocational training students to the latest technologies in the market, but also ensure that this training remains in the region". She also recalled that "Bankia’s commitment to boosting education is based on the conviction that only through it can we reduce inequalities and increase social cohesion".

The dual training provided by the IES Cristo del Rosario school and Deutz has enabled almost 80% of the students that finish the training to be hired by the company itself.
