Within its six social action lines

Bankia supports social projects with 4.5 million, in collaboration with 11 foundations

The initiatives are framed in the six main lines of action of the entity, focused on the promotion of local development, employment, disability, housing, the environment and training.

Bankia allocates 4.5 million euros to over 400 social projects that will be launched this year in collaboration with the 11 foundations of origin of the financial institution.

The initiatives, which are selected through social and environmental calls in 10 autonomous communities, will benefit 200,000 people during the year.

Bankia collaborates in its regions of origin with a total of 11 foundations, following the merger with BMN: Fundación Montemadrid, Fundación Bancaja and Fundació Caixa Castelló in the Comunidad Valenciana, Fundación Ávila and Fundación Caja Segovia in Castilla y León, Fundación Caja Rioja, Fundación La Caja de Canarias, Fundació Iluro in Cataluña, Fundación CajaGranada, Fundación Cajamurcia and Fundació Sa Nostra in the Islas Baleares.

“From the beginning, Bankia has prioritised social projects and local development. Our entity works closely with the people in the regions in which we operate and we are committed to society” said Bankia's Director of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), David Menéndez.

Menéndez also said that “thanks to the collaboration between Bankia and all the foundations and the joint work we do, we manage to reach and provide solutions to the most vulnerable groups in the autonomous communities and provinces that make up the history of the bank“.

In the last six years, Bankia has allocated more than 100 million euros to social and environmental projects developed by a total of 4,211 associations and whose programs have benefited 2.4 million people.

The financial institution promotes social initiatives within its six main lines of action: local development through collaboration with the foundations of origin, employment, disability, housing, environment and training.

Bankia focuses its social investment on these areas and maintains its commitment to society through the involvement of its entire structure and professionals. The Responsible Management policy is all-encompassing and approachable, as it links the social actions of the bank with its goals through its Solidarity Network project. 

Thus, the entity makes a priority contribution to nine of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including decent work and economic growth; industry, innovation and infrastructure; action for climate, and affordable, clean energy.
