Code of good practices: mortgage debtors

Start of main content

Bankia adheres to the Code of Good Practices, established in Royal Decree Law 6/2012 of 9 March on urgent measures to protect mortgage debtors without resources and to the subsequent amendments made by Law 1/2013 of 14 May, by Royal Decree Law 1/2015 of 27 February, Royal Decree Law 5/2017 of 17 March, and Royal Decree-Law 6/2020, dated 10 March.

This Code of Good Practices establishes a set of actions for the restructuring of debts with mortgage guarantee on first residences to protect mortgage debtors.

Families in the so-called "exclusion threshold" who cannot repay their mortgage may apply for these protection measures provided they meet the required conditions and provide formal evidence of their situation.

Bankia has produced an information document summarising the main issues regulated in Royal Decree Law 6/2012: requirements to be eligible for the protection measures, documentation necessary to demonstrate compliance with these requirements, conditions of the residence and the process and mechanisms for restructuring the debt.

Customers wishing to apply for the measures of the CGP should contact their Bankia branch, where they will be given more information on terms, required documentation and conditions. They may also obtain the application forms from their branch.

For further information or to clarify any doubt, please contact your manager or branch or call us on (+34) 91 602 46 80 .
