The Group’s main activity is to generate long-term, recurring and sustainable value that meets the expectations of its shareholders, customers, employees and society as a whole.

A business model with three lines of business

Private Banking, Business Banking and Asset and Investee Management are the three lines in which Bankia's business model is structured.

Bankia’s major competitors at nacional level are Santander, BBVA, Caixabank, Sabadell and Bankinter.

Bankia's business model is divided into three business lines:

  • Retail Banking: this comprises retail banking activities with individuals and companies with an annual turnover of less than 6 million euros. This business is conducted through a large multi-channel network in Spain, with a business model focused on customer satisfaction and profitable management.
  • Business Banking: provides services to companies with an annual turnover of more than 6 million euros (Business Banking and Corporate Banking), also including the Capital Markets activity and specialised business development teams, including the Sustainable Business and Financing Division. Customers, legal entities or the self-employed with a turnover of less than 6 million euros are included in the Retail Banking area.
  • Management of assets and investees: this includes private banking, asset management, insurance, strategic alliances and investees.
